Glasgow Museums Photo Library manages an archive of more than 15,000 images of works from the City's collections, one of the finest in Britain. We are continually adding images to this website.
The collection includes paintings from all the major European schools, and is particularly rich in Dutch 17th century, French Impressionist and Post-Impressionist periods. British painting of the 17th–20th century is well represented, with an emphasis on Scottish art; in particular, the Glasgow Boys and Scottish Colourists as well as works by contemporary artists.
The Photo Library holds images of the important collection of Spanish paintings from Pollok House. It also holds images from the Burrell Collection, Museum of Transport and the St Mungo Museum of Religious Life & Art. The People’s Palace collection includes objects and an archive of photographs, documenting the rich history of the city.
Large format colour transparencies, digital images (high and low resolution), colour prints, and black and white photographic prints can be supplied for reproduction, display or personal use. We can provide assistance and grant the necessary permissions and licences for commercial, editorial and scholarly use of these images, at very competitive rates. Even if you just want a photograph of your favourite painting, we will do our best to help.
