Scottish Refugee Council Youth Project

The Scottish Refugee Council Youth Project was established with money from the Diana Memorial Fund to help young refugees between the ages of 17 and 25 integrate into life in Glasgow. Working in partnership with other agencies, the Youth Project offers a range of services and activities such as sports sessions, computer classes and residential excursions outside the city.

The project
The first part of the project aimed at introducing the participants to photography as a mode of expression for ideas and personal experiences. The second part introduced the possibility of using the Internet to display work and share ideas with a broad audience.

On the photographic side of the project the group explored the idea of photographing ‘A day in my life’ – a series of self portraits taken during one day. These were made into a slide show, shown in the exhibition.
