The LINKES

The LINKES is a project in Knightswood run by and for the people living in the flats on LINcoln Avenue and KEStrel Road. Their work includes the support of local asylum seekers and refugees in the flats to meet and socialise using local resources. They organise regular weekly activities in the community rooms in addition to opportunities for people to socialise at various events throughout the year, including Sri Lankan New Year, a Community Festival in September and various day trips.

The project
The project looked at ideas of journey, both in life and where they have lived. The work was created using maps, atlases, drawing, printing and textiles. People traced their journeys and translated them into their own personal maps developing these further through printing and textile.
