Where else in Glasgow can you see a million objects, from the smallest insect to the biggest locomotive, all under one roof?

Glasgow Museums Resource Centre (GMRC) is home to a vast collection of objects from around the world.

You name it, we’ve got it: paintings, pots, swords, stuffed animals, ship models, vintage cars, clocks, kayaks - the list goes on and on. Although we have nine museums, we can only display a tiny fraction of our collection at any one time. The rest is stored at GMRC, our publicly accessible museum store. And it’s all available for you to see.

Please note: you can only visit this treasure trove on a facilitated visit. Please see our Events page for more information.

Guided tours
Join one of our guided tours around this extraordinary treasure trove. There's too much to see on a single visit, so our friendly and knowledgeable staff offer themed tours. They will give you an insight into the exotic and inspiring objects we keep at GMRC. All tours are free but booking is essential – for more information please see our Events page.

Coming soon - Explore the collections online
The Collections Navigator is an on-line database of all our collection areas. You can search for a particular topic or browse the collections to find areas of interest.

If your Navigator search locates objects you want to see and handle in person, you can make an appointment to view them in one of our study rooms. The Navigator includes details of how to request a viewing. (Please note, ee will need at least two weeks notice to process your request.)

Reference library
Our reference library of books relating to the collection is also open to the public.

Advance booking is essential.  Please phone 0141 276 9300, text phone 0141 276 9428 or email Glasgow Museums Resource Centre.

For school bookings, phone 0141 276 9505 or 0141 276 9506.
